Last night was the first time I had ever gone to a Buddhist session/get-together or whatever it is called. I realized one thing very clearly: I am in desparate need of doing some flexibility exercises!! We first did a 25 minute sitting meditation. Before the first 10 minutes were up, both of my legs from the knee down were completely asleep! The leader (btw - I am still not very well versed in all the terminology) said if we had problems sitting on the floor we could sit in a chair. So I went to do that. Funny how we take a simple thing like feeling in our lower legs for granted! So I sort of crawled/dragged myself over to a chair. Now I am already embarassed as hell; Imagine the kind of distraction it would be for a paraplegic trying to pick himself up off the floor to sit in a chair in a room that is dead silent. Anyway, the 25 minutes was over and feeling had returned. Then there was a 10 minute walking meditation and another 10 on the floor, which this time only made my one leg go numb. It is going to take me a while to get used to the routine. Good thing Buddhists are patient and understanding!
